Planning Session – Visual Management and Standard Work

How does the executive team of your organization manage performance to key performance indicator targets? How do they create alignment around major decisions for the organization?

Visual management and senior leader standard work are fundamental for the continuous study and adjustment of True North results and strategic plans. Making results and plans visual allows teams to see together, learn together, and make decisions together. Moreover, practicing the discipline of following standard work is essential for modeling the way for the rest of the organization. This one-day session, held onsite for your organization, follows the True North Definition and Prioritization and Deselection planning sessions or builds on existing work. Through facilitated group sessions and discussions, the team defines their role in the organization, the systems for managing to True North and strategy, the visual management (including the x-matrix if applicable) required to support and enhance these systems, and the approach for sustaining and improving these systems over time.

At the end of the session participants will have produced the following:

  • Standard work for the process of studying and adjusting plans and priorities to meet True North metric goals
  • Process for aligning the work with next-level operations
  • Standard work for the visual controls used to support the process above
  • An action plan for next steps
